Emmys 2011- What were the Trends?

I was able to watch a handful of the emmy's last night, but then fell asleep for the last 30 minutes. I wanted to highlight what some people wore since there were some glamorous dresses on the red carpet! Also what other things were trending last night. (thanks US Weekly!)

TRENDING LAST NIGHT!
Red was the "it" color of the night with several celebs rocking the bold hue. Among the best: Lea Michele (in Marchesa), Kate Winslet (in Elie Saab) and Nina Dobrev (in Donna Karan).


Oversized, gorgeous jewels adorned the ears of Sofia Vergara (in "huge" Columbian emeralds) and Rashida Jones (in Van Cleef & Arpels).


Christina Hendricks (Rouge Dior Lipcolor in Blazing Red) and Aubrey Plaza showed why red lipstick will always be a classic award show look.


Julia Stiles and Maria Menounos both styled their hair in glossy loose waves, worn over one shoulder.


Black was anything but boring at the Emmys. Case in point: Gwyneth Paltrow (in Emilio Pucci), Evan Rachel Wood (in Elie Saab) and Gretchen Mol (in L'Wren Scott).



Dazzling! Julie Bowen stood out in a silver and black Oscar de la Renta gown, while Claire Danes went for a strapless blue-sequined number by the same designer.


Kristen Wiig (in Zac Posen), Emily Blunt (in Elie Saab Couture) and Heather Morris wore seriously sexy deep V-neck gowns.



Award show hair doesn't to be stiff or formal. Cat Deely, Maria Bello and Jennifer Carpenter all rocked beach-y waves that balanced out their glittery gowns.


Dramatic shadow (as seen on Sarah Hyland and Jenna Ushkowitz) and colorful liner (Dianna Agron) were a glamourous touch.


Padma Lakshmi (in Armani Prive), Kaley Cuoco (in Romona Keveza) and Maria Bello (in Kaufmanfranco) went for asymmetrical styles
